A 2-year-old Glendale Drive boy was transported to the hospital Tuesday after he reportedly fell out of a second-story window.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Glendale Drive apartment about 10:30 a.m. after a call to dispatch reported the child had fallen from the window.
When deputies arrived, the boy was inside the apartment, alert and crying, the report said.
The boy’s mother told deputies her two children were in their bedroom on the second floor. The older child came downstairs and said the 2-year-old had fallen by the window, the report said.
The woman said she went upstairs and found the window open.
She ran back downstairs and found her neighbor standing at the door, holding the child, the report said.
The neighbor told deputies she and another woman were outside and saw the boys in the upstairs window.
The other woman said she ran to the house and saw the boy had landed on his buttocks, and he began to cry, the report said.
The first neighbor told deputies she picked up the child and brought him inside, calling 911.
Rural Metro Ambulance and the South Lockport Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene, and Rural Metro transported the child to Women’s and Children’s Hospital for evaluation.
A neighbor told deputies there had never been a screen on the upstairs window, the report said.
Deputies contacted the landlord, who reportedly said there had been a screen on the window when the family moved in.
Child Protective Services was notified, the report said.
